What are the points of attention for different mold release slopes of plastic parts
In the injection molding process, the mold release taper is a crucial design parameter, which directly affects the molding quality of plastic parts, production efficiency and the service life of the mold. The design of demolding slope needs to consider various factors to ensure that the final product can be smoothly separated from the mold without damaging the appearance and function of the product.
The so-called demolding inclination refers to the angle of inclination that is purposely designed to facilitate the separation of the part from the mold during the injection molding process. It is usually found on the side walls or raised parts of the molded part, by reducing the contact area between the molded part and the surface of the mold to reduce the adsorption force between them, so that the molded part is easy to be released from the mold.
Injection molding in the design of the mold release slope, to fully consider the following points of attention:
1. Material properties: Different plastic materials have different shrinkage and thermal expansion coefficients. Hard plastics such as ABS, PC, etc. may require a larger demolding slope, while soft plastics such as TPR, TPU can be designed with a smaller demolding slope.
2. the structure of the plastic part: for the complex structure of the plastic part, such as with deep cavities or narrow grooves, should be appropriately increased demolding slope to prevent the plastic part in the cooling process contraction stuck in the mold.
3. Surface smoothness requirements: products with high glossy surfaces require a higher demolding gradient to ensure that the smooth surface of the part is not damaged during the demolding process.
4. Mould manufacturing and life time: too much release tilt may shorten the life time of the mold, because the larger the tilt angle, the more uneven the force on the mold. Therefore, under the premise of meeting the demand of product release, adopt the smaller release tilt as far as possible.
5. dimensional accuracy requirements: for those plastic parts with high dimensional accuracy requirements, the setting of the mold release tilt must be very precise, otherwise it will easily cause dimensional deviation.
6. thickness of plastic parts: thin-walled plastic parts often need a larger mold release slope to reduce the possibility of deformation, while thick-walled plastic parts need a smaller mold release slope to save material.
7. injection molding production process conditions: injection speed, pressure, temperature and holding time and other process parameters will affect the shrinkage and deformation of the molded part, so according to the specific process conditions to adjust the size of the mold release slope.
8. Aesthetic considerations: in some of the appearance of the design of important products, the design of the mold release slope also need to take into account the overall aesthetics of the product, sometimes need to cleverly hide the mold release slope, so that it does not affect the appearance of the product.
9. Functional requirements: for structures with sliding, fastening and other functions, the setup of the demolding taper needs to ensure that these functions can work properly, and cannot reduce its performance due to improper demolding design.
