Pro Tips Revealed! Avoid Fusion Lines in Injection Molding Processing
In the field of injection molding processing, the problem of fusion line is a common challenge, which not only affects the appearance quality of the product, but also may lead to the degradation of the product's structural performance. Therefore, how to effectively avoid the problem of fusion bonding lines is a concern for every plastic product manufacturer.
Fusion lines occur when plastics from different flow directions are not completely fused together when they meet in the mold, resulting in a visible line-like defect. To solve this problem, it is first necessary to understand that the flow pattern of the plastic and the cooling process have a significant impact on the formation of fusion lines.
One effective approach is to optimize the process parameters of the injection molding process. Parameters such as injection speed, pressure, and temperature all affect the flow of plastic, and by fine-tuning these parameters, you can make the plastic flow more uniformly through the mold and reduce the generation of fusion lines. For example, increasing the barrel temperature and mold temperature can improve the flow and melt of the plastic, making it easier to fill the mold and reducing the generation of fusion lines.
Another method is to improve the mold design. The structural design of the mold and the location of the gate have a decisive influence on the direction and speed of plastic flow. By properly designing the mold, the plastic can be guided to flow along the optimal path, so that the plastic in each part can be fully integrated to avoid the generation of fusion bonding lines. For example, the use of a multi-point feeding design can avoid the plastic flowing in from a single direction and forming a complex flow path, thus reducing the generation of fusion lines.
Material selection is also an important consideration. Different plastic materials have different flow and melt properties, and choosing the right material can effectively avoid the generation of fusion lines. For example, the use of low viscosity, high melting point plastic materials can improve its fluidity and meltability, reducing the generation of fusion line.
The problem of fusion line in injection molding process can also be improved by post-processing. Some physical or chemical methods, such as sanding, painting, heat treatment, etc., can improve the fusion line on the surface of the product and improve its appearance quality and structural performance. However, this method does not solve the problem fundamentally and is only a remedial measure.
