How to solve burrs in stamping processing?

Stamping is a very common technique in the metalworking industry. By stamping metal materials using presses and molds, parts of various shapes and sizes can be manufactured. However, in the actual production process, it is often encountered that burrs appear on the edges of products after stamping processing. This not only affects the appearance of the product, but also affects the service life and use of the product.

So, how should stamping processing with burrs be dealt with?

1. Optimize the way of stamping processing. Generally speaking, stamping processing methods mainly include shearing, punching, bending and so on. Different processing methods will produce different degrees of burrs. For example, shear processing is prone to produce large burrs, while bending processing is relatively less. Therefore, according to the needs of the product and the nature of the material, you can choose the appropriate processing method to reduce the generation of burrs.

2. Improve the design of the mold. The design of the mold has a great influence on the generation of burrs. Generally speaking, the sharp angle design of the mold and excessive wear will increase the burr generation. Therefore, when designing a mold, you should try to avoid sharp angle design, and inspect and maintain the mold regularly to keep it in good working condition.

3. Selection of suitable materials. Different materials have different plasticity and toughness, which determines their burr generation in the stamping process. For example, soft materials are more likely to produce burrs, while hard materials are relatively less. Therefore, this should be taken into account when selecting materials.

4. Adoption of appropriate post-processing methods. Even if the above measures are taken, burrs cannot be avoided completely. At this time, some post-treatment methods can be used to remove burrs. Commonly used methods include grinding, polishing, sandblasting and so on. These methods can effectively remove burrs and improve the quality and service life of the product.

The problem of burrs in stamping processing can be solved by optimizing the processing method, improving the mold design, choosing suitable materials and adopting appropriate post-treatment methods. Of course, this also needs to be explored and summarized in practice to achieve the best processing effect.
