The key to plastic modification formulations in injection moulding processing
Injection moulding processing is a common plastic moulding process, and the plastic modification formula in its process has a direct impact on the performance of the products. So, how to develop a suitable plastic modification formula? This needs to be considered from the following key points.
The main purpose of plastic modification is to improve the physical and chemical properties of plastics to meet different usage requirements. For example, to increase the strength and toughness of plastics, to improve their abrasion, weather and heat resistance, or to change their properties such as colouring and anti-static properties. Therefore, when formulating a modification formula, the first thing to do is to clarify which aspect of the performance you wish to improve.
I. Selection of suitable modifiers. Modifier is the key factor to achieve plastic modification, and different modifiers can bring different modification effects. For example, we can use elastomer modifiers to improve the toughness and impact resistance of plastics, glass fibre reinforcing agents to improve the strength and stiffness of plastics, and antistatic agents to improve the antistatic properties of plastics. Therefore, when we choose modifiers, we should choose modifiers with corresponding functions according to our modification purpose.
Second, control the additive amount of modifier. The amount of modifier added to the plastic modification effect has a direct impact. Generally speaking, with the increase of the amount of modifier added, the modification effect of plastic will be gradually enhanced. However, when the additive amount of modifier exceeds a certain limit, the modification effect of plastics will tend to saturation, and may even be anti-effective. Therefore, when we formulate the modification formula, we should determine the optimal amount of modifier added through experiments.
Third, consider the melt index of the plastic. Melt index is an important parameter for measuring the fluidity of plastics, which directly affects the efficiency of injection moulding processing and the quality of products. Generally speaking, plastics with a higher melt index are easier to injection mould, however, if the melt index is too high, it may lead to an increase in the surface roughness of the products and affect the appearance of the products.
Fourth, choose the right type and model of plastic. The cost of plastic modification formula includes the cost of modifier, the cost of plastic, processing cost and so on. Under the premise of meeting the performance requirements of the products, we should reduce the cost of the modification formula as much as possible to improve the market competitiveness of the products.
