Injection mold manufacturing, why add inserts?
In the process of injection mold manufacturing, the use of inserts is a common technical means. So why do we add inserts to injection moulds? This mainly involves the design requirements of products, production efficiency and product quality and other aspects.
We need to clarify the definition of inserts. Inserts are small parts that are pre-designed and made in order to achieve specific functions or improve product performance during injection molding, and these parts are placed inside the mold and formed together with the plastic melt.
From the perspective of product design, injection mold manufacturing is mainly added to meet the performance and appearance requirements of the product. For example, we can improve the strength and wear resistance of the product by embedding metal inserts in the mold; By embedding electronic components, to achieve product intelligence; By embedding glass or transparent plastic inserts to increase the transparency and beauty of the product.
From the point of view of production efficiency, injection mold manufacturing adding inserts can improve the production efficiency of injection mold. Because the inserts are usually small in shape and size, they can be cooled and cured quickly during injection molding, shortening the overall production cycle. In addition, inserts can also reduce the wear of the mold and extend the service life of the mold.
From the point of view of product quality, injection mold manufacturing adding inserts can improve the quality stability of the product. Because the inserts are formed inside the mold, their geometry and size can be precisely controlled, thus ensuring the stable quality of the product. In addition, inserts can also reduce defects in the injection molding process, such as shrinkage, warping, etc.
