Explanation and countermeasures of grey and black speckling problem in injection moulding processing
In the injection moulding process, grey and black markings on the product surface are a common quality problem. This kind of mottling not only affects the appearance of the product, but also may have an adverse effect on the performance of the product.
What is grey-black mottling? Simply put, grey and black markings are black or grey spots or streaks that appear on the surface of plastic products. The appearance of these streaks is usually due to the mismatch of plastic raw materials, moulds, injection moulding process and other factors. Specifically, the following are some of the possible causes of grey and black markings:
1. the problem of plastic raw materials: if the plastic raw materials contain impurities or additives are unevenly distributed, they may form grey and black speckles during the injection moulding process.
2. Problems with the mould: If the surface roughness of the mould is not enough, or if there is damage inside the mould, it may lead to the formation of uneven flow traces of the plastic melt in the flow process, thus forming grey and black speckles.
3. Problems with the injection process: If the injection speed is too fast or too slow, or the cooling time is not enough, it may lead to changes in the flow characteristics of the plastic melt, resulting in the formation of grey and black markings.
Understanding the causes of grey-black mottling, we can target the countermeasures:
1. Select quality qualified plastic raw materials: in the selection of plastic raw materials, should choose the quality of reliable, no impurities, additive distribution of uniform raw materials.
2. Optimise mould design and manufacture: we should choose moulds with sufficient surface roughness and no internal damage, and carry out regular maintenance and repair of moulds.
3. Optimise the injection moulding process: the injection parameters such as injection speed and cooling time should be adjusted according to the characteristics of the plastic raw materials and the requirements of the products.
