What are the typical processing techniques for stamping die processing?
In modern industrial production, stamping dies have become indispensable and important tools with their high efficiency and precision. Especially in the field of automobile, electronics, home appliances and so on, they play a pivotal role. So, what is the typical processing technology of stamping mold processing?
Any good mold starts with a quality design and plan. The designer needs to draw up the mold design according to the product demand and plan the structure, material and precision of the mold in detail. This stage is the blueprint of the whole stamping mold processing process, which is related to the smooth running of all subsequent processes.
Next, is the selection and preparation of materials. Commonly used mold materials include various types of tool steel such as Cr12MoV, SKD11, etc., which have good hardness and wear resistance. After selecting the material, it is the cutting and heat treatment process. The blanks are cut into semi-finished products close to the final shape by means of EDM or wire cutting. Then, heat treatment is carried out to obtain the required hardness and strength, such as quenching, tempering and other processes.
This is followed by the roughing stage of stamping die machining. Equipment such as milling machines and lathes are used to remove excess material and allow for a certain amount of finish machining. At this point, the basic outline of the mold has been clearly visible, but still need to further refinement.
The finishing process is the key to determining the quality of the mold. This usually involves multiple processes such as high-precision grinding, EDM and hand polishing. At this stage, every detail is carefully polished to perfection to meet the precision requirements of the product.
In the process of stamping die machining, mold trial and adjustment are equally important. The mold produced for the first time needs to be tested in a real production environment to check whether it meets the product design requirements. If there is any deviation, the mold needs to be corrected until it is a perfect match.
A set of qualified stamping die also needs to go through strict quality inspection. This includes dimensional inspection, hardness test, service life evaluation, etc.. Only after passing these inspections, the mold can be officially put into use.
Stamping die processing is a systematic and complex project, which involves design planning, material selection, cutting heat treatment, rough machining, finishing, surface treatment, test mold adjustment, quality control and other aspects. Each link requires precise operation and strict control to ensure the high quality and long life of the mold.
