What should I do if there is "cold material" in injection moulding process?
Injection moulding is a common plastic processing technology, widely used in the production of plastic products. However, in the injection moulding process, the phenomenon of "cold material" sometimes occurs, which will affect the quality and performance of the product. So, in the face of the "cold material" problem, how to solve it?
In the injection moulding process, cold material refers to plastic granules or flakes that are not fully melted. These cold materials are not fully melted during the injection moulding process, resulting in product defects such as bubbles and cracks. The appearance of cold material will affect the appearance and service life of the product, bringing economic losses.
How to avoid the phenomenon of "cold material" in the injection moulding process? The following suggestions are for your reference:
1. Choose the right raw materials: Choosing high-quality plastic raw materials is the key to avoid the cold material problem. High-quality plastic has good fluidity and thermal stability, can be fully melted in a short period of time.
2. Control the injection temperature: the injection temperature has a great influence on the melting degree of plastic. If the injection temperature is too low, the plastic granules can not be fully melted, which will easily lead to cold material phenomenon. Therefore, according to the fluidity and melting point of the plastic, the injection temperature should be set reasonably. At the same time, attention should be paid to keep the temperature of the injection moulding machine stable to avoid the cold material problem caused by temperature fluctuation.
3. Adjust the injection time: too short injection time will also cause the plastic not fully melted. Therefore, the injection time should be reasonably adjusted according to the structure and size of the product. In addition, you can also increase the holding time and cooling time, so that the plastic particles are fully melted to reduce the phenomenon of cold material.
4. Optimise mould design: the impact of mould design on injection processing cannot be ignored. Optimising the mould structure, such as increasing the cooling water channel and improving the exhaust system, can improve the melting effect of plastic and reduce the cold material phenomenon. At the same time, regular inspection and maintenance of the mould should be carried out to ensure its normal operation.
